- Wherever focus goes, energy flows.
Wherever focus goes, energy flows.
Just like waves in the ocean. Create the current.
I've always had different interests. So much to the point where I enjoy learning about concepts, but do not gain any experience from what I consume.
I found myself relying on stimulation to keep myself busy. Moreover, found the inability to think for myself. Many people call this shiny object syndrome but I call it something else.
A lack of focus.
But there are so many people accomplishing so much compared to me.
People are living the life I want to live.
Why can’t I do the same?
… is what I used to tell myself.
“STOP TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING AT ONCE. FOCUS, THEN BE PATIENT.”
Who knew such wise words could come from a motivational youtube video?
Could focus be the answer? I dived in deeper.
To all my gym rats out there, turns out focus is a muscle. I realized I am disciplined when it comes to my body, but not when it came to my mind.
Here’s what changed for me:

I first had to figure out what I wanted from life. For much of my life, I am told what to do. I’ve am told what to say, how to think, and even at times what to wear.
A foundation is important. Take the time to discover yours. It will save you a lot of time in the future.

Craazy. Did anyone say COMPOUND?
Check out a few frameworks I’ve adopted along my journey:
THE COMPOUND EFFECT
Compound interest is the first thing that comes to people's minds. Through compound interest, growth comes from gaining interest in your interest.
When it comes to the compound effect, the principle is the same.
( Small guided action ) x ( Time ) = Desired outcome
The funny thing is these "small guided actions" are things we do every day.
Funny thing we call habits.

“Even though the results are massive, the steps, in the moment, don’t feel significant. The changes are so subtle, they’re almost imperceptible.“ - Darren Hardy (author of THE COMPOUND EFFECT)
THE EISENHOWER MATRIX

Awareness + Focus = Competence
An understanding of what is important vs. not important, by the urgency of the task.
We are all granted the same 24 hours a day.
How we use those hours separate the good from the great. (s/o @asana for the image)
Before I go, I wanted to leave you with this:

There will always be distractions. There will always be a temptation. There will always be an easier way out.
What you do with these adversities sets you apart.
Here are three you can do to set yourself apart:
Control your trigger points:
Develop an understanding of why/how distractions occur for you. Awareness is the first step to growth.
Find time to enjoy “distractions”:
There are 24 hours in a day for a reason. Use them. Enjoy life. Don’t worry too much.
Create an environment that allows you to win:
You know you best. No more playing it small. Its showtime.
Until next time my friend. - Paolo
